Established in 2002 as a springtime event, Oundle Festival of Literature has evolved into a year-round celebration of literature.

As a not-for-profit organisation, focused on promoting and supporting the literary arts, we bring our community of authors, readers, and literary enthusiasts together to engage in a programme of events throughout the year including solo author talks, author interviews and panels, literary lectures and writing workshops.

Our programme features an eclectic mix of speaker events, including authors of contemporary and genre-based adult fiction, creative non-fiction, poetry and non-fiction. Alongside bigger names, we welcome local and early career authors to our festival. In 2025, we're adding in programming for our Young Adult (YA) readers.
We host a week-long KidLit Festival in March around World Book Day, bringing top children’s authors to entertain primary school children in the town. A free-to-enter writing competition for those in reception to year 6 runs alongside the festival, providing a creative platform for authors and poets of the future.

Our festival events take place in a variety of venues around our characterful market town, all with disabled access and toilets, and many with free parking on site or within walking distance.
